Analytics

The analytics dashboard lets you link your Surreal CMS account with your Google Analytics account. Once linked, your clients will be able to view important information about their visitors right from the CMS.

Google Analytics is completely free and, if you’re not using it already, you can set it all up in no time. All you need is to create an account, verify your site, and paste a small code snippet into your pages.

Linking your accounts

Once you have a Google Analytics account, you’ll need to authorize Surreal to access your analytics data. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Extensions
  2. Select Google Analytics Dashboard > Enable
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the authorization process

Authorization is a one-time thing. Always authorize your own Google account, and never those of your clients. If you don’t see a website profile listed, you’ll need to have your client add you as an authorized user to their analytics account (see below).

Enabling the dashboard

Now that you’ve linked your account to Google Analytics, you can enable the dashboard for various sites:

  1. Go to Sites > Settings > Advanced
  2. Check the box labeled Enable Google Analytics Dashboard
  3. Select the appropriate analytics profile from the dropdown
  4. Hit Submit to save your changes
  5. Look for the analytics link in the sidebar

Adding authorized users

If your client already has a Google Analytics account that you don’t have access to, you’ll need to ask them to share their profile with your Google account. Please refer them to this screenshot that shows where they can do this in the Google Analytics dashboard.
